Subject: Update on potential changes to U15 softball structure
Dear SMSL Members, We want to share an early update regarding potential changes to the U15 softball structure for the upcoming 2026 Saskatoon softball season.
In response to recent changes in Softball Saskatchewan’s operating procedures, SMSL has struck a committee to review options for U15 play, including the possibility of city-wide play at this level. The committee will be looking at how any potential changes could affect teams, competition format, and the overall experience for players and families.
At this time, the work is still in progress, so we are not yet in a position to share specific options or recommendations. A formal decision on the U15 structure will be made through SMSL shortly after January 15.
What you need to know right now:
· Saskatoon Minor Softball registration is proceeding as usual: Please continue to register your U15 players in the normal way and by the usual deadlines within your respective zone. There is no need to delay registration while this review is underway.
· More information is coming by mid-January: We will provide a further update by mid-January, outlining any changes or decisions, and what it means for U15 teams for the upcoming 2026 season.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through these changes in partnership with Softball Saskatchewan. Our priority remains providing a competitive, positive and well-organized softball experience for all players.
If you have questions in the meantime, please reach out to your association or zone representative, who can help gather and relay common questions back to the committee.
Sincerely,
Dean Bilodeau President of the Saskatoon Minor Softball League
